Telegram was the only way off this box, and it is not a direct path: it
needs api.telegram.org, a socks relay on the host and a matching ufw rule.
Each of those three has failed once, and when they do a sev4 nudge has
nowhere to go. ntfy shares none of them.
The spare is the smaller half of it. The routing table already sends
sev3-away nudges and away reminders to ntfy and to nothing else, so with no
block configured those two routes hit a nil sink in DispatchNudge and
DispatchReminder and are skipped — no log line, no delivery_attempts row.
An away reminder is worse than dropped: out stays empty, so MarkReminder
never runs and it re-fires every tick without ever being delivered.
Owner's call, 07-08-2026: ntfy.kvmx.ru, topic maven.
The sink now takes a bearer token, which is what that server wants and what
it could not do before. ntfy scopes a token to one topic and to write-only,
so a popped sink can push to the maven topic and cannot read it back. Basic
auth stays for a server with no tokens; configuring both is refused rather
than resolved by guessing.
Config keys got json tags. docs/operations.md has documented this block as
base_url/topic since before it existed, and the untagged struct would only
have answered to BaseURL/Topic — the documented config would have parsed
into an empty one.
The token is a ${NTFY_TOKEN} expansion from the gitignored
deploy/telegram.env, beside the telegram secrets. TestDeployConfigLoads now
fails if the block goes missing, because deleting it is how you turn the
reach off and the two silent routes are what that costs.

`SetMaxOpenConns(1)` under WAL gives up concurrent reads, and the task
asked whether that costs anything. Measured over a fixed two-second
window, a paced writer against a read loop, three runs per cap:
reads do not queue. Four connections buy 70µs at p50 on a turn that
spends 1.19s in the resident model, and write throughput more than
halves. A 19ms worst case also cannot be the source of the 2.7s router
figure, so that line of enquiry is closed.
What the cap cannot survive is a long-lived transaction. It holds the
only connection, so a second read never completes: two seconds and
`context deadline exceeded`, against 1ms at a cap of four.
`Store.DB` handed out exactly that transaction. It had been there since
the initial commit with no production caller, and its comment described
a loop that never materialised. Its one user was a test helper reading
`delivery_attempts` by raw SQL, which `ListDeliveryAttempts` has covered
since V-390. So the cap stays and the seam goes, and the hazard is gone
by construction rather than by documentation.
`internal/store/conncap_test.go` stays as the standing measurement,
skipped under -short. The comment at the cap and the one in
`internal/ipc/server.go` that leans on it now state the invariant and
cite the numbers.

The push half accepts an @channelusername and the intake half cannot: an
inbound update names its chat by number, so an @-name matches nothing. The
check lived in NewPoller, which wireTelegramIntake logs and returns from, so a
box configured that way booted clean with a dead intake half and a working push
half. Nothing looked broken from the chat.
ValidateIntakeChatID moves the rule where config validation can reach it, the
same shape validateNetScan uses. It is stricter than the old prefix test: any
non-digit is refused, not just a leading @. An empty token or chat id still
means telegram is not wired, because an unset ${TELEGRAM_*} expands to empty
and that must not fail a box with no bot.
deploy/mavend.json turns intake on. The chat id on this box is numeric.
The onCallback comment claimed every path answers the callback. The fromOwner
early return does not, and silence toward a stranger is correct, so the comment
was what was wrong.

Two defects my own review found.
The push half accepts @channelusername as a destination. The intake half
cannot: an inbound update names its chat by numeric id, so that config would
read the chat, match nothing, and answer none of it. Refused at NewPoller,
which turns a dead reach into a line in the log.
And getUpdates returns at most 100 updates per call, so one call was not the
backlog. The skip loops, bounded at ten rounds rather than until empty, so
an instance that keeps handing back a full batch cannot spin.
The cases that matter: the turn runs with the chat as its dialogue id, the
reply carries the gesture, a turn nothing persisted carries no buttons, a
stranger gets no answer at all, the first tap writes nothing, and a write
that failed says so on the button instead of going quiet.
An httptest server that hands out one batch of updates per getUpdates call
and records everything else, plus a recorder for what the poller asked the
daemon to do.
Long-poll getUpdates rather than a webhook: the box takes no inbound
connections and reaches telegram through a relay, so the direction has to
stay outbound. A failed poll waits and retries, because the relay going
down is the normal cause and it comes back on its own.
The backlog is discarded on start. Telegram holds undelivered updates for
24 hours, so a daemon that was down overnight would otherwise answer every
question in order, and a reminder set from an eight-hour-old message lands
at the wrong time. Missing it is the safe direction.
ChatID is the only accepted sender and anything else is dropped without a
reply, because a reply confirms the bot exists and whose it is. Chat ids are
not guessable but they are not secret either, so that is the whole
authorisation and it is an allowlist of one.
getUpdates, sendMessage, answerCallbackQuery and editMessageReplyMarkup,
plus the inbound shapes cut to what the poller reads. Every error goes
through the sink's redaction: the token is in the URL path because telegram
accepts it nowhere else, and net/http prints that URL on a transport
failure.
Only ok=true is a success, the same rule the push half already applies. A
relay that is up but cannot reach api.telegram.org answers 200 with an HTML
page of its own, and reading that as a batch of updates would be silent.
A chat id arrives as a number for a user and a string for a channel, so it
is held as json.Number and never converted.
Config gains an intake flag, off by default, and sendMessageReq gains the
inline keyboard the intake half hangs under a reply. The gesture itself is
the web's, ported: one button says the turn was wrong, and it opens the
seven intents rather than writing the negative straight away, because the
target is worth much more and he must still be able to decline naming one.
Button data comes off the wire, so parseCallback refuses an id it cannot
parse and a target that is not one of the seven. A label nothing can score
is worse than no label.
The sink parsed the response, and when the body did not unmarshal it fell
through to the status check and returned nil on any 2xx. This box reaches
telegram through a relay, and a relay that is up but cannot reach
api.telegram.org answers 200 with a page of its own. That read as delivered:
the dispatcher wrote a 'sent' outbox row and MarkSent restarted the repeat
clock, so a sev4 alarm nobody received went quiet for a full interval.
Only ok=true is a send now. The response cap moves from 4096 to 64KiB, because
a truncated body no longer parses and would read as a failure, and error lines
carry a 200-byte snippet instead of the relay's whole page.

audio.PCM16kMono was only referenced by a `var _ =` placeholder whose
comment claimed to keep the import "honest" for a method call that
doesn't need it — out.Format's IsValid() is a method value, calling it
never requires importing the package that defines the type. The import
had no other use in the file, so both it and the placeholder were dead.
PROGRESS.md and 20-07-2026-BACKLOG.md were state snapshots that git log and
the Vikunja board already carry. Everything PROGRESS.md claimed as shipped is
a QA task. The backlog's only untracked item, bounded follow-up state, is now
V-448.
maven-feature-ranking.md moves to docs/archive/2026-07-03-feature-ranking.md
instead of dying. Its mandatory and easy tiers became V-449 through V-458; the
doable and epic tiers are reasoning about why things are not worth doing yet,
which no task captures.
Four code comments and the design.md ledger pointed at the deleted files.

Seventeen markdown files at the repo root, twelve of them dated one-shot
reports sitting next to CLAUDE.md. That is why stale docs read as
current: nothing in the path said which was which.
Root now keeps CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md. Living docs move under docs/
and carry a Last verified line. Dated measurements move to docs/evals/
ISO-prefixed, and are never edited after the day, so a newer number is
a new file. The senior review moves to docs/archive/.
Every reference was rewritten across markdown, Go comments, the Makefile
and the recall fixture. The touched Go packages still build.

net/http wraps every transport failure in *url.Error, whose Error() prints
the request URL. Telegram accepts the bot token nowhere but the URL path, so
a send failure wrote the live token into the daemon log. On 2026-08-01
homesrv could not reach api.telegram.org and did that once a minute for as
long as the network stayed down. The token lives in deploy/telegram.env to
stay out of the repo; putting it in `docker compose logs` undoes that.
Both error sites now go through redact. The structural branch rewrites
url.Error.URL and keeps the type, so errors.As still matches; anything else
falls back to scrubbing the rendered message. No minimum-token-length guard:
a one-character token would shred the message, but that beats leaking it.
DESIGN.md still said the classifier cascade was the path that runs today
with llmrouter wired nil, and gave the resident checkpoint as Qwen3.5-0.8B.
Both stopped being true on 2026-07-31.

Dropping a sev1-2 care nudge while you're away is right and still happens.
But it was a bare `continue`: no row, no log, so "she dropped it", "the gate
suppressed it" and "the rule never fired" all looked identical afterwards.
Adds a 'dropped' delivery status (migration #12 widens the CHECK constraint;
sqlite can't do that in place, so the table is rebuilt) and records the drop
as one delivery_attempts row plus a log line.
No nudges row for a drop: that table feeds the ignored_rate signal, and a
nudge nobody could see must not count as ignored.
TestVoiceNoSessionFallthroughLeavesOutboxTrail expected exactly one row for
sev1-2 when voice had no session. It now expects the voice failure plus the
drop, which is the point of the change.

The away sinks fell back to the whole Body when Summary was empty. ntfy and
telegram leave the box, and the 0.8B phraser drops fields regularly, so that
fallback could push full detail off the machine.
The dispatcher already strips detail from away sendables. This exports that
one rule as delivery.AwayMessage and has both sinks use it, so a sink can't
leak the body on its own either: empty Summary means a generic line plus the
rule name, never the body.
The two sink tests named TestSendFallsBackToBodyWhenSummaryEmpty asserted the
old, wrong behaviour, so they are rewritten to assert the generic line.
TestSendRejectsEmptyMessage is likewise replaced: an away message can no
longer be empty, so the sink has nothing left to reject.

The integration branch names one test TestAwayFallsBackToFullBodyWhenSummaryEmpty,

A panic in Send used to unwind past completeOutbox and leave the
delivery_attempts row pending forever, since reconciliation only runs at
startup. safeSend turns the panic into an error, logs it loudly, records the
attempt failed, and lets the other channels for the same nudge still go out.

a fixed generic line plus the rule name instead of the full Body. The

Fallthrough is checked per severity through the outbox trail, so sev3/sev4
reroute and sev1/sev2 still drop. Durability uses a real store on a temp file:
a crash between Begin and Complete becomes unknown, is not resent, is not
dropped, and a late Complete cannot overwrite it. One skipped test marks a real
gap: a panic mid-send leaves a permanent pending row.

Table-driven tests for all four severity bands crossed with present and away,
both as the pure table and end to end through the dispatcher. Three tests are
written to DESIGN.md and skipped because the code does not keep the claim: the
care-away drop is recorded nowhere, and the minimal body is enforced per-sink

The most load-bearing decision in the project was stated four incompatible
ways: the docs said Qwen3-1.7B, deploy/mavend.json said Qwen3.5-2B, the repo's
models/llm/ held an LFM2.5-1.2B gguf, and five code comments still said LFM.
Answering "which model is deployed" meant re-deriving it from scratch every
time.
Two facts the review missed, found while resolving it:
- /mnt/hdd1/llms is bind-mounted over /opt/maven/models/llm, which shadows the
repo's models/llm/. The LFM2.5 gguf sitting there was never loaded by
anything, so it was not evidence of the deployed model at all.
- That library holds Qwen3.5-0.8B, -2B and -4B, and no Qwen3-1.7B. The config
pointed at a file that does exist; the docs' Qwen3-1.7B was the stale claim,
the reverse of the assumed direction. Qwen3-1.7B is the CPT target, and that
training is still in flight (Vikunja #122), so no such gguf exists yet.
phraser.model_path moves to Qwen3.5-0.8B (Q4_K_M) — the smallest checkpoint on
disk, chosen for latency, and relevant to whether the LLM router is affordable
on this box. Docs and comments now say the same thing in one voice: 0.8B
resident now, CPT'd Qwen3-1.7B as the target, and the bind-mount shadowing
written down so the next reader does not mistake models/llm/ for ground truth.
Comments name the model, never a filename, so a swap stays a one-line config
change.
n_gpu_layers: 99 is correct and stays — compose passes /dev/dri and the render
gid for Vulkan offload to the Vega iGPU. CLAUDE.md's "CPU-only" was the stale
half of that contradiction and is corrected.
phraser.go also dropped a wrong "sub-1b, prompted not trained" size claim: the
target is trained end-to-end (RU CPT + joint persona/router SFT).

15 root markdown files, ~4,900 lines against ~33,000 lines of Go, with at least
three pairs contradicting each other. When five documents describe the
architecture, the code becomes the only trustworthy one — which defeats the
point of having them. That drift is why the resident-model question had four
incompatible answers.
SPEC.md, maven.md and ROADMAP.md are deduped into DESIGN.md rather than
concatenated, with a "Superseded" section carrying eight retired decisions and
what replaced each: classifier-owns-the-route (the cascade is still the live
path, but as a stopgap, not a design to extend), faster-whisper/vosk/silero,
the small-model phrasing claim, sqlcipher, the Kotlin/Spring sketches,
obsidian->chroma, script deployment, and FloorEnrollment. Superseded material
is kept and marked rather than deleted, so it cannot read as current.
SESSION-05/06-07-2026.md and PLANS.md are removed outright — git history holds
them, and both were verified tracked before deletion.
Go doc comments citing the deleted files are repointed to the equivalent
DESIGN.md sections. Several asserted designs that were already retired, so the
claims are corrected and not just relinked: stt.go named faster-whisper as
production (it is whisper.cpp), tts.go named silero (it is piper), intent.go
still described the classifier as owning the route, and stale vosk/chroma
vocabulary is replaced. ECOSYSTEM-SPEC.md references are deliberately
untouched — that is a different document, and a naive grep for SPEC.md matches
it.
Root markdown drops from 4,880 to ~3,700 lines. The review's ~1,500 target is
not reachable while keeping the files it also said to keep — those alone are
2,553 lines — so trimming further needs a separate decision on
MAVEN_ECOSYSTEM_ARCHITECTURE.md and PROGRESS.md.

Closes the audit finding: a crash between 'sink accepted it' and 'we
recorded that' caused duplicate sends on the next tick with no trace.
BeginDeliveryAttempt now runs before Send, CompleteDeliveryAttempt
after — a stale 'pending' row found at startup reconciles to 'unknown'
(never silently resent, never silently dropped, same rule as the Hexis
execution engine's timeout handling). Wired into DispatchNudge,
DispatchReminder, and RepeatUnacked; ReconcileStaleDeliveryAttempts
runs once at mavend startup before the tick loop resumes.
9 new dispatcher tests cover begin-before-send ordering, failed-send
completion, the reminder path, and begin-failure not blocking send.

Tests cover all Send() code paths:

Uses net.Pipe() for real voice.Sessions integration, tts.Stub for
deterministic synthesis, and fake synthesizers for error paths.
When the daemon starts after being offline, multiple due reminders
would fire simultaneously as separate notifications. Now a single
digest reminder is dispatched instead, summarizing all pending items.
- New collapseReminders() helper in gather.go: if 2+ reminders are
due, marks originals as fired and returns one synthetic reminder
(ID=0) with a combined JSON payload.
- Dispatcher skips MarkReminder for ID=0 (synthetic digest).
- All loop and delivery tests pass.
Completes the three in-flight open items and fixes the away-fallthrough bug.
Item 7 — passkey step-up (WebAuthn):
- internal/webauthn: ES256/P-256 register + assert with real ecdsa signature
verification, minimal CBOR/COSE decode, PasskeySession (L2→L3 on assert,
decays after TTL). Drop the RS256 offer we can't verify (register-ok/
assert-fail trap). Verify rpIdHash + UP/UV flags in FinishAssertion — UV is
the step-up gesture. Round-trip test with negative cases (tampered sig,
missing UV, wrong origin).
- cmd/mavweb: /auth/passkey enroll+assert page (the only surface that can do
a WebAuthn gesture) + the four begin/finish endpoints. Without this the
daemon's PasskeySession swap leaves /tools enable permanently blocked.
- daemon wires PasskeySession as the auth Session + srv.StepUp; policy gates
MethodAssertStepUp at AuthRead.
Item 5 — tools page: DisableTool through store/ipc/client/wire; /tools grows a
disable action and a link to the passkey page. Lifecycle test.
Item 6 — note RAG: PhraseQuery on the phraser (LLM-composed answer over top-k
notes, raw-notes fallback); IntentQuery routes through it. Stub returns a
deterministic summary.
Item 2 — away-fallthrough: on ErrVoiceNoSession the dispatcher now reroutes
through the AWAY table (sev3→ntfy, sev4→telegram-repeat-til-ack, sev≤2→drop)
instead of silently dropping / mis-routing to the present-list remainder.
Covers DispatchNudge + DispatchReminder. 4 tests.
Also: re-add ProposeTool to CoreAPI (dropped in a comment rewrite), fix

PROTOCOL.md: generated from internal/voice/wire.go — documents the
voice wire format (TCP, length-prefixed JSON, methods, pushes, errors)
for multi-client implementors. Must stay in sync with wire.go.
dispatcher: when voice sink returns ErrVoiceNoSession, skip voice and
continue to remaining channels instead of aborting. sev4-present
already has ntfy in the routing table (continues naturally). sev1-3
present have only voice — the loop ends with no dispatches, which
matches the spec (care/ops-soft drop on no-voice).
voicesink: maps voice.ErrNoSession to delivery.ErrVoiceNoSession so
the dispatcher can detect it without importing the voice package.
